Lawyers’ group: Federalism ploy for Arroyo perpetuation

MANILA, Philippines — Government claims that Constitutional amendments it is pushing would be selective and limited only to the changes needed to bring peace to Mindanao were “insincere” and a “ploy” to perpetuate President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in power, a group of activist lawyers said Wednesday.

Arroyo hit for ‘sinister agenda’ in call for federalism

Calls for Charter Change are once again being made by the government. Some say this is all so predictable. I don’t know, what do you think?

MANILA, Philippines — Militant groups are warning President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo against pushing for Charter change, saying there is a “sinister agenda” behind her call instead of addressing the problems in Mindanao.
