MANILA, Philippines — Alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) bombed a cell site in a village in the province of Capiz, Monday, a police official has said.

Senior Superintendent Josephus Angan, Capiz police provincial director, said the suspects used an improvised explosive device (IED) to bomb the Globe Telecommunications cell site in Barangay (village) Manayupit Maayon.

No one was reportedly hurt in the incident, said Angan.

Both the 604th Mobile Group of the Capiz provincial police and members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) have started manhunt operations against the suspects, Angan said.

On August 29, supposed NPA rebels also planted an IED at the same cell site but the bomb did not go off, Angan said.
