DIGOS CITY, Philippines — Four persons were killed and a still undetermined number injured when a bomb exploded inside a bus parked at the public transport terminal here around 2:45 p.m. Monday, a police official said.

Superintendent Cesario Darantinao, Davao police chief, did not provide the names of the casualties but said dozens were still being treated at hospitals here.

Darantinao also said the explosion could have been triggered remotely.

In Manila, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Eastern Mindanao command spokesperson Major Armand Rico reported seven injured in the blast. Rico said they have deployed the 39th Infantry Battalion to help secure the area.

Explosive Ordnance Division personnel had also cordoned off the terminal.

The Metro Shuttle Bus 209 had come from Davao City on its way to Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

Last month, a bomb also ripped through a unit of the same bus company, killing two people and injuring more than 30 others. Police had blamed that incident on the al-Khobar extortion gang.
