New FOB album in ’08

Posted by Abi Kwok on August 27, 2008

This just in: Fall Out Boy will be releasing a new album this November, specifically on the 4th, worldwide. The video in YouTube was uploaded August 25th, so I guess the news isn’t new. But it’s still new to me! Check out the video:

The album will be titled Folie A Deux. Can’t wait! The album will be launched during the US Presidential Elections. Guess, FOB is now being more politically active. I hope they don’t do an Incubus and release A Crow Left of the Murder type of album. Not that I don’t like that Incubus album 😀

Their first single, I Don’t Care, is set to be released online, dates TBA. It can be downloaded for free, according to the band. Keep posted for updates! 😀

Editor’s Note: The posted that the record ridership was reached by the LRT this Wednesday. It was on August 22, said LRTA administrator Melquiades Robles in a statement. We regret the error.

MANILA — The Baclaran-Monumento line of the overhead Light Rail Transit system reached a record ridership of 497,008 passengers in a single day, beating the previous record set eight years ago, according to a statement by the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA).

The LRTA reported that the new one-day record was set on August 22, a Friday. The previous record of 458,061 was set on Feb. 2, 2000.

LRTA administrator Melquiades Robles said that a recent capacity expansion enabled the system to absorb “the phenomenal ridership surge” brought about by rising fare and fuel prices.

Robles also assured the public that even if its ridership would increase by 50 percent, the LRT system could still absorb the additional passengers.

“The ridership capacity of the LRTA lines is unprecedented, it is in fact the biggest riding capacity,” Robles said.

Data from the LRTA showed that it fielded a total of 30 trains on August 22. The average load factor or congestion level on this day was 63 percent.

LRT Line 1 has 139 trains that can carry as much as 1,309, 680 passengers per day or 38,520 persons per hour per direction. Meanwhile, LRT Line 2 has 16 trains that can carry a maximum of 730, 240 passengers per day, Robles said.

Line 2 (Recto to Santolan) has 16 trainsets available, which can carry a maximum of 730, 240 passengers per day, he said.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has stepped up its road works for the rehabilitation of the Tarlac-Nueva Ecija-Aurora Dingalan Port Road Project in Central Luzon, an official said on Tuesday.

DPWH secretary Hermogenes Ebdane Jr. said the road works will boost the economy in the provinces of Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora and will hasten the completion of the Luzon Urban Beltway Super Region project.

“The on-gong rehabilitation will facilitate agricultural, industrial and tourism growth and development, generating more income and job opportunities to the affected provinces,” Ebdane said.

The 120.65 kilometer-long road will also complement President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s RoRo (Roll in/Roll off) project, particularly benefitting Dingalan Port in Aurora.

At present, the following portions of the road project have been completed: concreting of 1.84 kilometer gravel road at Gabaldon-Dingalan Port Road (P48.8 million); concreting of 2.97 kilometer gravel road at Dingalan-Dingalan Port Road (P60 million); and concreting with asphalt overlay of 11.55 kilometer Sta. Bands I want to see before I die

Posted by Abi Kwok on August 26, 2008

OK, you probably know by now how much of a music lover I am. Sadly, I have been to two concerts so far, that of Lifehouse and Panic at the Disco: two bands I absolutely love. Someday, I hope to watch more concerts from bands I like. These are just some of the bands I want to see before I die:

  • Dashboard Confessional – if hottie Chris Carrabba, I will not hesitate to don my punk/emo outfit and sing my heart out to Hands Down and Screaming Infidelities 😀
  • Smashing Pumpkins – I’m really interested to see Billy Corgan live wearing the outfit he wore in Ava Adore =O
  • Coldplay – I haven’t listened to their new album yet (except for Viva La Vida, duh), but I have all their other albums, and I think that’s more than enough.
  • Fall Out Boy – too bad I wasn’t able to catch them live during their Manila tour. Pfft.
  • The Honorary Title – this is probably a long shot since they’re still such a small-time band, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed ^_^
  • Motion City Soundtrack
  • Paul McCartney – even one Beatle is enough for me. I can faint!
